Final conclusion: the last day

Today is our last day of this credit and these are the conclusions:
We learned lot of new vocabulary, different options for reciclying, reduce the ecological footprint... About the cooperation in group, too and use differents instruments to mesure the humidity, temperature, speed of the wind... This credit is very interesting and we enjoy it. We hope that it is of your pleasure this blog.

Reciclying oil

The other day, in class, we made soap with reciclying oil, NaOH, soap in powder, flour, hand soap and distillet water. We use paper of filtered to filtered the oil and then we put this oil in glass of precipitates. In other glass of precipitates we put distillet water and NaOH with spatula. We mixt. In the other glass of precipitates we put soap in powder, flour and hand soap and mixt. At the end we mixted all the solutions and put in a plate of Petri.

Water polluting

This experiment is to know the influence of the polluting water in the vegetation (seeds of soja). We make this experiment with our partner. Each partner had a polluting solution and we taked 10ml of polluting solution (NH3,NaOH,Hcl) in different concentration of this solution (1M, 0'1M, 0'01M) and distilled water. We needed pipette, pipum, plate of petri, proveta and flask cleanser.

The conclusions are: more polluting solution the seeds don't grow or grow a little bite. Less polluting solution more grow. And with the control (destillet water) the seeds grow more than the other solution.
Hence than we contaminated the water: The plants die and they not produce oxygen, there's no food for all the population ...

Micro-climates in the city

Worksheet 6

Last day, we went to the street and Alex give us a thermometer and a anemometer and then we mesure the temperature of the air and of the ground. While, our parthner mesured the wind's speed with anemometer. We mesured this things in front of the school , in front of el "Corte Inglès", in Catalonia square and in the roof of our school.

The ecological footprint

Worksheet 9

We went to a webpage for to calcutate our ecological footprint. We draw our foot in a paper, and now, we multiply de result of the webpage for a million because in the webpage, the results are in dam2. We mesure the width and the length of our footprint, and then we multiply these two results to get the area. Then we divide the result by the results of the webpage by the area of our footprint. Our ecological footprint is:

We have the same ecological footprint: 385.000.000 cm2 . Clàudia's footprint is 126 cm2 and Laura's footprint is 138 cm2.The total results Clàudia's is 3055.555,5 and Laura's is 2789855.

the webpage is: www.stanleyparkecology.ca/programs/activities/howbigft.php. In the footprints we write some things to prove the enviorement.

The density of transports

Worksheet 4
Hello! The previous activity was consisting of counting(telling) the different transports(cars, buses, taxis, bikes, pedestrians) that were happening(passing) for: Casp, Pau Claris and Gran Via. We use a book-keeper (meter) and a chronometer and distribute the work. We count during five minutes and then it we divide the result between(among) five. The result is the following one:

We have reached the conclusion that in Gran Via in there are pollution, to be a main street spend many more vehicles while Pau Claris spend more than Casp because intersects streets very important: Gran Via and cross the city the North to South. The results of Casp are more smaller than Pau Claris and Gran Via because Casp very short and is very good to the pedestrians.
The pedestrians prefere walking in Casp because is a comercial street and is not noisy than Pau Claris and Gran Via.

Mobility and ways of transport

Worksheet 3
Our aim was to measure the width of the street, and then separate the sidewalk. We mesuare the length of the steps of a partner with a ruler. And then we multiply the length of the step by the number of the steps. We mesure Pau Claris, Gran Via and Casp, they are three streets near to our school.

The % for cars in Gran Via is the more than half because it is a main road and very important, but the others are more than people because the % for cars are more low. There are more pollution in Gran Via because many spend between coches.Y Casp and Pau Claris, Pau Claris has more traffic Casp.
